Stax star William Bell tops Soulsville USA Festival lineup

Somewhat overshadowed in Memphis music history by his fellow Stax Records vocal dynamo Otis Redding, William Bell recently has enjoyed a strong second act, performing at the White House, appearing prominently in the documentary “Take Me to the River,” releasing new album “This Is Where I Live,” and soon to be inducted into the Memphis Music Hall of Fame.

Bell, 77, is the headliner for the second annual Soulsville USA Festival, an event that seeks to honor significant contributors to Memphis’ musical legacy while also introducing audiences to the soulful stars of the future. He’ll be joined by the “Take Me to the River” revue, featuring others who appeared in the hit 2015 film, including the Hodges Brothers, Boo Mitchell, Al Kapone and Frayser Boy with the Stax Alumni Band.
